Generally, like in most countries, some nationalities are granted visa on arrival and others are required to apply before. Visitors who need to apply for a visa prior to arriving in the UAE, are first issued an entry permit.
Work visa in the United Arab Emirates
It is illegal to work in the UAE while being on a visit or tourist visa.
Work permits are issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). The employer needs to apply to MoHRE for the work permit.
After the employee enters the UAE on the basis of the work permit, the sponsoring company arranges to complete the formalities of medical testing, obtaining UAE Resident Identity (Emirates ID) Card, Labour Card and stamping the work residency permit on his passport within 60 days. The work residency permit on the employee’s passport denotes that he is sponsored by the company he is employed by.
To expedite the process of work visas, MoHRE and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has set up centers outside the UAE.
Family residence visa
After this process, the employee can sponsor his family members and bring them into the country.
Visa and work permit requirements are subject to change. Complete information and a complete list of United Arab Emirates visa can be found on the Official Website of the Official Portal of the UAE Government.
